Outrage and grief sparked across Bomet County on Friday September 12 after a grade six pupil at Chebugon Primary School in Rongena-Manaret Ward, Bomet County was brutally beaten to death by the father.
According to the reports, a 12-year-old Emmanuel Kimutai, was scheduled to attend his school’s Prayer Day on Friday, September 12, a milestone event for pupils preparing for national examinations.
However, instead of celebrating his achievement, the school and surrounding community were plunged into mourning following his untimely death after being allegedly beaten by the father.
His distressed mother painfully narrated how her son’s life was cut short and identified the suspect who allegedly killed him.
In solidarity and as a way of demanding justice for the slain pupil, Chebugon Primary School postponed the Prayer Day event.

Parents, teachers, and community leaders said the postponement was meant to send a strong message that violence against children will not be tolerated.
This heinous act has attracted the attention leaders with the Bomet women representative Linet Chepkorir condemned the brutal killing of 12-year-old Emmanuel Kimutai,saying that no child deserves to endure such cruelty.
“I strongly condemn this heinous act in the strongest terms possible. As a mother, a leader, and a representative of the people, particularly women and children. I cannot remain silent in the face of such brutality.” She said.
Chepkorir, who expressed her deepest shock and heartbreak over the tragedy, said the incident was a painful loss not only to the family but to the entire community and the nation.
“No child deserves to endure such cruelty, especially from those entrusted with their care and protection,” she said.
She called on law enforcement agencies to expedite investigations and ensure justice is swiftly delivered.

She also urged community members to be vigilant and report any signs of child abuse or domestic violence to prevent future tragedies.
“This should be a wake-up call to strengthen child protection measures and create safe, nurturing environments for our children,” she said.
