Police in Kiminini sub-county, Trans Nzoia County are investigating an incident where the decomposing body of a Grade 6 pupil was found in a school compound two months after her disappearance.

Teachers and learners of Mogoywet Primary School were gripped by shock when the body of the learner, Triza Naliaka, who is believed to have disappeared immediately after sitting her KPSEA examinations, was found in the said state.

The body was found after teachers reported a foul smell emanating from one of the ECDE classrooms.

Confirming the incident, Kiminini OCPD John Onditi said police have begun investigations to unravel the mysterious death of the 12-year-old girl.

Terming it tragic, Onditi assured the public that the investigation will be thorough.

“Investigations have been launched to know when Triza was killed, who killed her and the motive behind the killing,” said the OCPD.

The police boss said that the pupil’s disappearance was not reported, raising questions why a parent could stay quiet with their child missing.

“It is disturbing that no one reported the missing of the child, raising questions on how a parent can stay without their child at home. Even at this time when schools are opening, parents should file reports if their children, especially girls, have not reported to school,” he said.

The school was closed immediately following the incident in what the school administration said is aimed at fumigating the school.
