A standard four boy allegedly stabbed a standard seven boy to death after a disagreement over ownership of a pencil. The shocking incident occurred at Bogwendo Primary School in Nyamira county in the morning when the two boys fought over the pencil, but their differences were settled with the help of the teacher.

However, one of the boys felt offended and went home angry and returned in the afternoon with a sharp kitchen knife that he allegedly used it to stab his colleague to death.

Manga Police police station officer, Mr Gabriel Mwangangi who visited the  school after the incident called on  parents and teachers to step up guidance and counselling services to children to avoid cases of violence in society.

The officer said youth learn from adults and asked teachers and parents to shun violence and set a good example to children.

After the attack, the teachers rushed the victim to Manga hospital where he was pronounced death.

The suspected killer was rescued by the police from the irate villagers who wanted to lynch him. Mwangangi said, suspect was taken to Manga juvinile remand to await investigation and consequent judgement in a court of law.

When Education News contacted Nyamira county director of education, Mrs Margaret Mwirigia for comment, she said the matter was with the police and hoped it will be solved  efficiently.
