Four more schools are set to benefit from an initiative by Shinyalu Constituency MP Fred Ikana aimed at building storey buildings to house classrooms in area schools.

Speaking in his Constituency, the MP said that construction had already started at St. Albert’s Shanjero and Lwanda Primary School while construction at Shidodo and Mukango Primary School will begin before the month ends.

This will raise the number of schools with storey classrooms in the initiative to eleven.

The others are Ivakale, St. Joseph’s Mukulusu, St. Joseph’s Ingolomosio, St. Clare’s Munasio, Shitochi, Solyo and Mugomari Primary Schools.

Ishikulu Primary School will, on the other hand, undergo renovations worth Ksh3 million.

Ikana said that new ablution blocks had been put up at Munyanda and Busulwa Primary Schools, and that more were planned for in several other schools in the region.

“We are scouting for a school in Isukha North Ward that will receive a bus fully purchased by the NG-CDF the way we did for Lugala Secondary in Isukha Central,” he said.

The Legislator pointed out that his office will support the education of more learners this year through bursaries and scholarships.

Over 10,000 students benefited last year, the highest number in the constituency’s history.

He added that the tarmacking of the Murhanda-Shinyalu-Chepsonoi road and the construction of an international airport in Shinyalu were on course.
