Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nayan continued its towering dominance in Coast region with yet another sterling performance in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education KCSE.
The school posted one straight A, 29A-,59 B+,39 B -, 25 C+, 9 C,3 C-, translating to a mean score of 8.964 points.
But the above results were a drop from 9.02 mean score in 2019.
The school is among the top schools in the coast region which performed well in the exam.
Its top candidate was Assiya Abubakar Ali who clinched a straight A of 82 points.
She was followed by others including Omar Adan who scored A-,Samira Mohammed A-, Yusra Rashid A-, and Mwanaisha Ali Joho, who scored a B+ and Nafin Swaleh Awash who also scored A-.
Assiya 17 who said her ambition is to study medicine in the iniversity, attributes her performance to the teacher student relationship saying she will work hard to make her dream come true.
“My parents and teachers supported me a lot and I must say I am happy to become the top student in my schoool.My aim was to study medicine in the University,” said Assiya who spoke to journalists at the school after the results were released.
The school deputy principal Shaikh Rashid Rajab said the good results were as a result of hard work and good relationship between learners and teachers.
He said although Covid-19 disrupted learning for some of the learners, the performance was impressive congratulating parents and learners for results.
“We had good relationship between parents learners and teachers, that is why we performed well, this is despite disruptions by Covid-19, but we thank God we are among the best,” said Rajab.
At Memon High School in Mvita, Ashraf Mohamed Anil 19 years topped with an A- of 81 points, followed by Said Omar with A- of 80 points while Mohamed Mutte also got A-79.Others are Ahmed Anas who scored A- of 78 points.
“The school principal is good and we are among the top 100 schools in Kenya and top three in the Coastal region, so with a mean score of 8.2 points,” said Joseph Kangethe Mwangi.
The young best performing candidates is Jaden Angella,16 from Alliance girls high School who scored A-of 82 points.
Angela who stays in Kiembeni with her parents but from Kiambu county says her performance was attributed to hard work and dedication.
“I felt very good when the CS George Magoha mentioned my name as among the best performing young students, my dream is to become a neurosurgeon when I go to university,” said Angella.
She said despite the slow down by Covid-19 she studied hard and was determined to achieve her dreams.
Her father Amigo Nobert expressed satisfaction with the performance of her daughter, who she referred to as a go getter and hard worker.
“We anticipated that she will perform better especially after being the top student in her KCPE back then, we knew she would post good results,” noted Nobert.
