Senator wants bursaries restructured for fairness and equity

Kakamega Senator Dr Boni Khalwale speaking at a funeral in his Malinya home turf today, asking the government to change the bursary model as the current dispensation is unfair.

Kakamega Senator Dr Boni Khalwale has called on the government to urgently overhaul the current bursary funding model, which he described as discriminatory and unfair to the underprivileged.

Speaking during the send-off ceremony for the late Veronica Mudola Makwaka in Malinya village, Idakho Central Ward, Ikolomani Sub-county, the Senator urged President William Ruto to redirect bursary funds away from political influences and ensure they are allocated to those who need them most.

Khalwale emphasized that the existing system perpetuates economic inequality, preventing many deserving students from accessing essential educational resources.

“Education should be a right, not a privilege,” he stated, urging the Ministry of Education (MoE) to take decisive steps towards making education free for all.
