Miriam Sitima Macharia, the leader of the self-help group and a champion for women and children’s welfare thanked government leaders for contributing the money to assist the very needy to pay school fees, a gesture she said has uplifted the lowly in society.

She assured that the money, uniforms and other items donated will be given to the needy.

She was speaking while issuing the bursaries to several women groups in Nairobi where she called upon non-governmental organisation and leaders to practice high sense of integrity and to ensure that the school fees and development funds they receive are only utilized on the intended purposes.

Saying that Kenya is a peaceful country with hardworking and God-fearing citizens, Mrs. Macharia urged Kenyans to pray for peace to prevail in the country, noting that prosperity can only be achieved through peace.

Also present at the event was the Chairman of the National Council of NGOs, Mr Stephen Cheboi who commended the women leaders for assisting the less fortunate in society, a gesture he said will help those assisted to achieve their dreams in life.
