Search begins for ‘E’ graders in Kericho to enroll them in vocational colleges

Brenda Cherotich being lifted high after scoring good grades at Kipsigis Girls. Those from the county who scored 'E' are wanted by the Department of Education to be enrolled in vocational colleges.

A search for all candidates who scored grade E in 2023 KCSE in Kericho County has been launched with an aim of finding and enrolling them in vocational training centres.

County Director of Education (CDE) Julius Ngoneshi said chiefs and their assistants have been mobilized in a major mop up exercise to flush them out of their comfort zones.

The director said the exercise of collecting data from all the schools in the county commenced on Monday this week and will continue until a comprehensive record is obtained.

“There is no excuse for any student to remain at home,” he remarked.

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu had said before that the candidates who got E are about 48,000 across the country, which is 5 per cent of the total candidature.
