The Ministry of Education has warned schools against presenting non-students to participate in the ongoing co-curricular activities.
Speaking on behalf of the Kakamega County Director of Education (CDE) Dickson Ogonya at the County Music Festivals held at Friends Kivaywa Boys High recently, Kakamega North Sub-County Education Official Godwin Simango cautioned schools against the vice reminding them of the legal repercussions and possible ban for schools implicated.
“Let us give our students a chance to display their talents because if we poach and present outsiders while denying the real students their chance to showcase their talents, they are the ones to lose in the long run,” he said.
He noted that the Ministry has put in place measures to verify and identify suspected participants and stringent actions will be taken to both the individual and the school involved.
He congratulated the qualified teams and wished them well as they proceed to the Regional level to be held in Lwanya Girls in Busia from July 13 to 17 and the National level in Nyeri.
The County Music Festivals Chairman Barasa Mukoya hailed the teams for their outstanding performance and exploration of their talents in various categories.
He lauded the County Director’s office for ensuring that the activities resumed despite the earlier announcement to suspend it due to financial hiccups.
“We also want to thank both KNUT and KUPPET for their support as funding has been a challenge and also ask the Ministry to continue supporting these activities as they are part of nurturing students holistically,” he said.
Mukoya urged the students to put their best feet forward as co-curricular activities were one way of realizing their potential and securing their future.
