Schools urged to fence their lands to ward off land-grabbers

Lamu

School Boards of Management (BoMs) in Lamu county have been asked to fence off their school lands as a preventive measure against land grabbers.

Speaking to Education News in Lamu town recently, the County Director of Education (CDE) Joshua Kaaga decried the high number of unfenced primary and secondary schools in the region.

“Any school land which has not yet been fenced risks being grabbed,” he said.

He further called on education stakeholders to chip in and provide support to schools to fence their parcels of land.

Kaaga appealed to the stakeholders to also assist in equipping area schools with the necessary learning facilities and materials.

The CDE stressed on the importance of discipline in schools and asked parents to assist teachers in instilling discipline into their children.

He also urged them to always encourage their school children to study extra hard in order to excel in their final examinations.
