By Enock Okong’o

Schools in Rigoma Division of Nyamira County have benefited from Sh1million from the area NG-CDF offices.

Speaking during the issuance of cheques from the Kitutu Masaba NG-CDG kitty, area MP Shadrack Mose said that the money was meant to top up the capitation by the Ministry of Education to improve infrastructure.

“I love education and that is why my office is decided to supplement what you have to improve the infrastructure in our schools,” he said.

Among schools that benefited from the kitty include: Mong’oni and Kebirigo Secondary Schools, and Embaro, Biticha and Nyanchonoria Primary Schools.

The MP asked the school management committees to use the money for the right purposes but if they are misused, he cautioned, would lead to them being arrested and judged in a court of law.

He congratulated Nyamira County Director for Education Mrs Margaret Mwirigia for her close guidance and professionalism in handling teachers’ issues.

He asked some education officers to uphold professionalism while discharging their duties, asking them not to harass teachers but instead, give guidance.

Talking on behalf of the institutions, the principal of Nyanchonoria Secondary School Mrs. Callen Ratemo thanked the government for the gesture. She promised that the money will be used prudently to benefit the learners.

She affirmed her commitment to cooperate with her school management committee to use the money prudently to complete the on-going dormitory construction that had stalled due to shortage of funds.
