School where parents chased Principal away, gets a new one

Troubled Amariba DOK Secondary school in Kisii County has received a new principal after the former, Mr Oriri, who was chased away by irate parents last week for allegedly posting poor 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.

The Principal, whose fate is yet to be known, was replaced by Mr Enock Nyamari of Gekong’o DEB Secondary in Kenyenya sub county.

Following the forced transfer imposed by parents, Kisii County Education Board has asked parents to seek civilized ways to solve internal wrangles between them and teachers to strengthen their relationship and bolster efforts by the latter to mold students.

Led by Chairman Prof Henry Onderi, they said that the national examinations were generally accepted countrywide and asked parents to be lenient on the few schools that did not meet their expectations.

“Let parents own the examination results of their schools and work hand in hand with teachers to improve the results,” he said.

The Board welcomed the ongoing transfers of teachers by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

In the latest wave of transfers, Boniface Masese has been moved from St. Pauls Igonga Boys school to Bishop Mugendi Nyakegogi of Bobasi Constituency in the same capacity.

Mr Masese left the little known St. Pauls Igonga Boys after steering it to a mean score of 10.24 in 2022 up from 6.5 in 2021.

The school took all 118 candidates who sat for the examinations to University after 1 candidate scored an A plain, 28 scored an A- (minus) while the last candidate got B- (minus).

The new Principal is said to be a soft-spoken but stern disciplinarian who will revive Bishop Mugendi Nyakegogi school’s academic glory.
