School tells parents to accept new rules or quit

Education school community wrangles
Friends Tande Secondary School Principal Dan Masitsa

Parents of Friends Tande Secondary School have been asked to comply with the new school regulations or ship out as the school transforms itself academically.

The Principal, Dan Masitsa while addressing parents during the institution annual general meeting (AGM) today, pointed out that the school was hell bent to a fresh start.

He warned that the few individuals within the school who are not ready to embrace the change should walk out as the institution will not stagnate academically because of those few people who doesn’t want to adhere to the changes.

Masitsa, who is currently transforming the school in terms of infrastructure and enrolment, said it was time for the school to wake up from its academic slumber and start recording good results.

“We have hit the ground running and as a school manager I will not sit and watch my school crumble academically. That is why we are putting appropriate measures to reignite the good old Tande that was academically and co-curricular wise known, as we prepare to walk this journey together, i expect no hurdles be it from the parents, teachers in achieving our long awaited goal,” he said.

He insisted that it was only through such positive changes that will repackage the institution back to its academic radar.

While criticizing the 2023 KCSE results, where the school had a sole university entry, said it was important for the stakeholders to accept that the results were wanting as a first step bringing onboard the needed change in performance.

“We have a few disciplinary issues with boy girl relationship being rampant but we are firmly dealing with such cases and soon we will separate the two genders from free mixing,

“We want our boys and girls to respect themselves and concentrate on their studies first as that is their main mandate as to why they are in school and with discipline we will not compromise considering our performance is wanting,” he said.

The school head further urged the parents of form four students to allow their children to board so as to enable more coaching and revision which in time will bring good results.

At the same time he called on total cooperation from the parents in supporting education programme within the school.

Masitsa has kicked off an overhaul at the school through bringing on board new young teaching staff.
