School takes flawed KCPE to court to stop Form One selection

Parents of Kitengela International School have taken the matter of a flawed KCPE to court seeking to halt the Form One selection process.

They claim that the KCPE results upon which the selection is based do not reflect the true academic abilities of their children.

Leading the legal petition is Nairobi-based lawyer Danstan Omari, who asked the court to block the placement pending its appeal against the KCPE results released last week.

City lawyer Danstan Omari speaks to the media outside Milimani Law Courts. He seeks to halt the Form One selection as KCPE results were flawed.

It all began with a protest staged at the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) offices yesterday, telling the council that their children had consistently performed well but were failed at the national stage.

“We truly believe that those do not reflect the abilities of our kids. We are 100 per cent sure those are not our results. It can’t be that a school that has been number 1 in the country for the last three years all of a sudden doesn’t have top performers,” Samuel Nderitu, a parent, said at the KNEC offices

The school head teacher has also requested a review of the results, stating that none of the 185 candidates scored 400 marks.

He said some candidates have already enrolled in other schools due to the disappointment of the results.

The parents want their issue resolved before the Form One selection process begins.
