A secondary school principal in Kisii County collapsed yesterday and was rushed to hospital after a mysterious disappearance of money amounting to Ksh. 500,000 from his car.

According to eye witness, the principal withdrew the cash from one of the banks in Kisii town before proceeding to some restaurant for lunch in the company of his school bursar.

“We left the money wrapped in a brown envelope at the backseat and walked to the restaurant,” reported the bursar.

When they came back to from the restaurant, they were stunned to find the rear window of the car broken into and the money missing.

They reported the matter to the police for assistance.

Kisii Central Deputy County Commissioner Wilberforce Kilonzo said he had received the report and confirmed the police had already launched investigations on the matter.

“Our security officers are following up the matter seriously but we ask anybody with information that can help to volunteer,” he said

Preliminary police report indicates that the review of the CCTV footage could not produce any helpful results because the cameras were placed too far from the scene to enable clarity of the photos.

Most of the public observers implicated the bursar on the theft and asked the police to arrest him to help them with investigation.
