Kebirigo Boys High School staff has started a programme called adapt a boy policy meant to help some of their students settle down after their homes were affected by the floods.
School Chief Principal Clement Nyang’acha said that majority of students in the institution who come from affected areas like Baringo, Narok, Malindi and Homa Bay seem to be affected socially and psychologically and there is need to help them.
“I started by adapting three affected boys and I was happy teachers volunteered to support at least one boy,” he said.
He said that in the policy, a teacher identifies any of the affected boys and tries to buy clothes or shoes to help them cope with life after the loss at their homes as they guide them to recover from the flood trauma.
Speaking at the school, located in Nyamira County when he organised a special supper to the students on Tuesday, May 14 for the bonding purpose as the schools resumed for second term, the principal said Kebirigo High was not affected by the heavy rain.
