Friends Bulupi Secondary School students have held demonstrations up to the education offices over wrangles surrounding the deployment of a new Principal at the school.

The students want the school management board and the surrounding community to allow the new Principal to do his work without interference.

They said the School Board of Management chairman was behind the new Principal’s woes.

While picketing to Malava Sub-County Education Director’s office they blamed the board chairman Raphael Shiundu for always having problems with principals posted at the institution.

The students alleged that the Bom chairman was fighting the principal and had incited the community to reject him hardly one month after he was posted.

They said it was unfair to fight the new Principal Mr. Alexander Anekeya who they said was taking the school in the right direction in matters of academics.

“The new principal has been helping us to do exams from re-known schools such as Lenana and Alliance and we have been improving in our tests considering those schools are academic giants, but all of a sudden the Bom chairman through the community wants him out.

Right now the Principal is not at school, we don’t even know where he is. We want the education office to take action against the chairman for he is behind the unrest in the school.” Students said

It is said that the Bom chairman has a huge say on the running of the school and considering him being a scholar the community heeds to his word and hardly questions his decisions.

Speculations were rife that the Bom wanted to sell the school bus to offset some of the school’s debts something that does not augur well with the students and teachers.

The bus was bought by the Malava NG-CDF two years ago alongside the Bukhakunga and St Anthony Kakoyi in a colourful ceremony led by the area MP Malulu Injendi.

The Sub-County Director of Education Rose Chisumi addressed the students and assured them that the office would review their grievances at the school.

“We are happy that you peacefully marched to this office to present your grievances in a diplomatic way without destroying properties and we assure you that we are going to address the matter as soon as possible so that you resume learning in due course,”  She said
