School heads warned against misuse of buses

By Denis Lumiti

School administrations have been urged to take good care of vehicles that belong to the institutions.

Ikolomani MP Benard Shinali said some schools misuse buses, thus shortening their lifespan.

“I appeal to heads and boards to take good care of vehicles for the benefit of the learners and local communities,” the MP said at Shiveye Secondary School when he delivered a 42-seater bus for the institution.

Shinali said the bus, procured by the Constituency Development Fund, would not only help the secondary school but also the primary section and local community.

The legislator said there should be transparency and accountability in the way the vehicles are managed.

“Some head teachers turn the vehicles into personal property. Others cannot account for the funds collected from hiring out the vehicles,” he added.
