School heads warned against charging extra levies

Primary and secondary school heads in the six counties in Coast region have been warned against charging school children extra levies.
Coast Regional Education Co-ordinator Abukadir Kike  told school heads to desist from sending children home over extra levies.
He said that the heads should not charge any extra levies because the Government has already invested heavily on the education sector.
The Coast regional education co-ordinator revealed that the huge funds directed to schools in the country cater for the school children and there is no need for the school heads to charge extra money.
“The practice demoralises the effort of school children to concentrate in their studies”, added Kike
He cautioned that any head teacher found to have charged school children extra levies will be dealt with accordingly.
