School heads wants gov’t to streamline funding of schools

By Fredrick Odiero

School heads from Kisumu County have asked the government to streamline how it remits funds to schools.

Kisumu county Kenya Secondary School Heads Association Chairman George Nyangwe said that National Education Management Information System (NEMIS) sometimes locks out a number of learners when it loses network.

Speaking in Kisumu after a council meeting, Nyangwe said that at times funds aren’t even distributed to schools.

He argued that the problem becomes worse when students change schools and their names aren’t captured in the NEMIS of their new schools.

Nyangwe, who is also the Principal of Sango Buru mixed day and boarding secondary school in Nyakach Sub County, called for improved networks in NEMIS operations in order to enhance efficiency.

He urged teachers to take the Covid-19 jab to protect themselves and their students.

He also advised them to observe all the protocols in order to guard against the virus which he described as lethal.
