School heads refute radicalisation claims

Heads from Marsabit schools that were listed by Anti-Terrorism Police for alleged involvement in students’ radicalisation have refuted the accusations.
They termed the allegations as unfounded and insisted their schools have never been involved in radicalisation.
“Our school offers an equal opportunity to all pupils despite their religion. Such news reports are undermining school’s excellent record. We are ready for investigation,” said Jamia Secondary School Director Ali Sharif.
Sasura Girls principal EuphemiaThairu said the news is shocking and called for the security team to explain how they received such information. “Some parents and locals raised concerns about some of the Sheikhs they think are promoting radicalisation in schools. The report was released by some parents and not police,” added Moi Girls head teacher, Halima Adan.
She said they had convened a meeting to address the issues as they were not involved in the vice.
Taqwa Integrated, Little Angels Academy, and Sakuu Primary head teachers also denied accusations against their respective schools.
