School heads in Nandi County have been warned against using unregistered teachers to manage drama and music festivals.
County Director of Education, Harrison Muriuki, said the practice is illegal and could lead to disciplinary action against those found culpable.
Speaking in his office on Tuesday, Muriuki emphasized that only teachers registered by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) should be allowed to oversee drama activities in schools.
“It is against the law for school heads to engage unregistered individuals in managing drama festivals. Only registered teachers should perform this role for purposes of accountability and discipline,” he said.
He noted that both the TSC and the Ministry of Education have clear guidelines regarding the involvement of non-teaching staff in co-curricular activities.
“The code of conduct on non-teaching staff is very clear and must be fully adhered to by all institutions,” Muriuki stated.
