School girls released on bond for attempted arson

Kisii Law Courts have released five school girls on a consolidated cash bail of Sh100, 000 after they were taken in for their involvement in an attempted arson.

The suspects from Itierio Girls High school in Kisii County were on first account accused of attempting to burn a dormitory at the school.

Before the Resident Magistrate Paul Mutai, the accused pleaded not guilty of the attempted to burn down the dormitory.

The same court had earlier on heard that on 9Th November 2021 at 4.00 am, the girls jointly attempted to set fire on a building called Elgon Dormitory, the property of Itierio Girls’ High School.

The second account also charged them of being in possession of a alcohol based sanitizer and a gas lighter within the school compound.

The case was adjourned and set for hearing on 29Th November 2021.
