School children plant trees

The West Pokot County Government has started a process of involving schools in tree planting campaign in order to rehabilitate and maintain forests in the county.
West Pokot County Governor Prof. John Lonyangapuo recently led over 20 schools in planting of tree seedlings at Kapkoris Forest which is next to Kamatira Forest, the largest forest in the county.
Lonyangapuo together with Peter Adoki the CEO Ministry of Environment and natural resources led a successful tree planting day whereby over 2,000 tree seedlings were planted.
Adoki said that currently the Ministry of Environment and natural resource has 60,000 trees seedlings which will be distributed to schools.
