School celebrates longest serving teacher on World Teachers Day

Pomp and colour marked the celebration of a long serving teacher Magrina Rono at Kurumbopsoo Primary School in Baringo as teachers, community and alumni gathered to to express their heartfelt gratitude during the World teachers Day.

It was the perfect moment to remember the teacher who shaped lives in her 39 years of service, the teacher leaving a trail of success behind as she bows out of the profession after attaining the retirement age of 60.

Baringo KNUT Branch Executive Secretary Bishop Joshua Cheptarus who graced the event hailed her endless commitment to serve the Kenyan child, producing top personalities around the country and abroad.

Cheptarus said her impeccable journey in the career led to hundreds of her pupils joining the teaching profession, including her children who serve across the country.

He praised the school led by the board and community for organizing the auspicious occasion to remember her remarkable  service.

Kapropita Member of County Assembly Alex Kurui and John Tarus (Sacho Ward) conveyed sentiments of the union boss and urged the school to carry on the legacy of excellence amid the fanfare that marked the day.

Rono is brought on stage by pupils as the colourful event was marked to coincide with the World Teachers Day.

The retired teacher in her speech thanked her fellow teachers, friends and community for the support they accorded her to make the teaching career enjoyable and fruitful.

“I have been blessed to work with some of the most dedicated, passionate and compassionate colleagues. With your support to brave challenges, we are today celebrating the accomplishments,” said elated Rono.

She said teaching is all about nurturing potential, sparking curiosity, encouraging dreams  and believing possibility of a brighter future.
