A Form Four student and school captain of Nzukini Secondary School in Masinga Sub-county of Machakos County has committed suicide.
The body of the student was found dangling from the roof of his room in Ikongeni village.
The incident was confirmed by Kivingoni Assistant Chief Josephat Sila who noted that the reason for the young man committing suicide is still a mystery to the family and authorities.
He highlighted the worrying trend of increasing suicide cases in the area and urged people to seek counselling and support instead of resorting to such actions.
“I have noticed that cases of suicide are cropping up and what I can say is that my office is ready to offer any counselling to those going through mental distress. Do not kill yourself; instead, speak out and get help,” he said.
The student’s body was taken to Mbaku Funeral Home for post-mortem examination.
