School boy who went missing last week found dead in pit latrine

A lifeless body of an eight-year-old boy who had been reported missing in Webuye West was found yesterday inside a pit latrine, dismembered and concealed in a gurney bag.

Peter Barasa, who attended Sikimbilo primary school, was the deceased student who went missing last Tuesday after lunch break.

Linda Nasimiyu, the deeply troubled mother of the minor, reported that her son disappeared under mysterious circumstances last week.

“My child went missing on Tuesday after leaving school. Since that day, I have made all efforts to find him, but I have not found him,” Nasimiyu said.

The grief-stricken mother blamed her former lover and neighbor, who took over her life after her husband passed away.

“This old man came to my homestead as a helper; I didn’t have anyone to assist me. I took this old man into my home because I couldn’t raise the kids on my own after my husband passed away in 2022,” she stated.

She said that all attempts to report him to the police had been unsuccessful and that her family was unwilling to help.

“He had tried to stab me three times, and I reported to the police saying that there was danger living in my house,” Nasimiyu said.

Nasimiyu reported that the murder suspect refused to leave her house, threatening that on the day he did leave, he would leave something for her to remember forever.

In a dramatic turn of events, the suspect accused of killing the minor was beaten to death by a mob on Monday in Kimilili, where he had sought refuge after allegedly committing the crime.
