Katoloni Secondary School principal together with the school Board of Management are seriously working towards making the school better in terms of performance as they host an outreach programme by CEMASTEA on STEM subjects and the sub county drama festivals recently.

Francis Ndimu, the principal of the mixed school that is in Machakos town and with a population of 500 students noted that the experience of hosting the CEMASTEA outreach programme on STEM subjects enticed his students to put more efforts on science subjects.

“Through the interaction with the team on the ground, the students were able to see science subjects differently,” he said.

He was hopeful that they were going to improve in science subjects since he has able teachers and hardworking students.

The school also hosted sub county drama festivals where the Chief Guest was Charles Kyalo Mutinda, a member of the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms and Machakos County Chief officer for ECDE where he said that the county was keen on supporting talents.

He added that the government is starting a talent academy to continue nurturing talent and that the county had plans of having a modern theater where people can pay to watch actors from Machakos.

Mutisya encouraged drama patrons to try and create items which revolve around drug abuse since it is turning to be a menace in schools.

Sub county drama festivals chairperson, Mary Kieti, encouraged students to take drama seriously, saying that teachers are focused to help them reach to the highest level possible.

She called upon students to keep off early sex and drug abuse noting that these are vices destroying the future of learners.

On hosting sub county drama festivals, the host principal, Mr. Ndimu noted that it was an honor for his school to be selected among many.

“Our children performed well and they were very excited to have such an event. Discipline was okay since we did not get any extreme issue from any of the schools around. I’m happy and we even wish to host bigger events,” remarked Ndimu.

Among the schools present were; Kwanthanze Mixed Secondary, Mumbuni Boys, Machakos School, Kamuthanga, Kilaani, Yoongoni and the host school Katoloni.
