A former student of Pangani Girls Wabwire Khwaka Tatyana, 19, scored an A (plain) in the just released 2021 KCSE. She was a beneficiary of a scholarship scheme initiated by Bungoma governor Wycllife Wamgamati.
Hailing from Kimatuni area of Bumula Constituency, Tatyana said she was excited and aims to pursue an architectural course at the University of Nairobi.
“I really thank God for giving me life and enabling me to score such a wonderful grade. After this tough journey I now focus on joining Nairobi University and pursue architecture,” she told Education News, adding that she will go overseas to do many more courses to widen her professional base.
She said despite the Covid-19 interruptions, she was able to study online with the help of her school and family.
“I want to thank my school that gave us moral and material support. I want to assure that I will not let my family down at the university. I will keep on the excellent performance,” she affirmed.
Wabwire attended Bungoma DEB Primary School and scored 441 marks.
Her mother Catherine Wabwire said her husband died years back, leaving her with two kids for whom she has struggled to bring up.
“My husband died when Tatyana was in standard four and I almost gave up but my daughters encouraged me and I am very happy with Tatyana’s performance,” she said.
She added that her daughter had been consistent in her performance since primary school.
Ms. Wabwire lauded Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati for considering placing her daughter under a scholarship programme.
Echoing his sentiments, Tatyana’s grandfather James Wabwire lauded Pangani girl’s school fraternity and the governor for supporting his protégé’s dreams.
“I live with my daughter and her two daughters here because I saw that they were suffering after the death of their father,” he said.
