Sakaja vows to repossess unlawfully acquired lands to build schools

Sakaja

The Nairobi County government will reclaim unlawfully acquired public lands for the establishment of additional schools, Governor Johnson Sakaja has said.

“We will collaborate with our MCAs and MPs to identify available land that can be allocated for the construction of secondary and primary schools,” he said.

Speaking during Madaraka Day celebrations at Joe Kadenge Stadium (City Stadium), Governor Sakaja expressed displeasure on over-crowding in existing institutions across the county saying it has hampered the provision of quality education offered in schools.

“We have a significant number of students who cannot access quality education due to overcrowding. It is unrealistic to expect them to excel under such conditions. We must find a solution to this problem,” he said.

Sakaja said he is aware a lot of parents opt to take their children in neighbouring counties, particularly in transition to secondary education, under the 100 per cent transition policy but his government is determined to change the norm and ensure education levels are top notch in the county.
