Safaricom’s initiative boosts education, health

Safaricom Foundation, through its Ndoto Zetu initiative, has equipped 14 schools and four health centres in the counties of Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, and Kericho at a total cost of Sh 8.9 million.

Enaiposha Girls Secondary School in Nakuru County, Kimoson Primary School in Kericho County and Kipsangui Girls Secondary in Uasin Gishu among eight other schools received 10, 000- litre water tanks each to help in mitigating water shortage in the institutions during the dry season.

On the other hand, Sumeek dispensary in Rongai sub county, Nakuru received delivery beds, patient beds, a sucker, an oxygen concentrator and HP metres. In Kericho County, Seretut Dispensary received a delivery bed, baby bath, urometer, weighing scale and safety boots.

In Trans Nzoia County, Kapsitwet Centre also received a bed, baby cot and a room heater for the maternal unit, to improve the new-born unit conditions, which will in turn improve new-born mortality rates in the area.

Ndoto Zetu is a Safaricom Foundation`s flagship philanthropic initiative, which calls on Kenyans to partner with the foundation to actualise their community`s dreams and aspirations.

Over the next two months, Safaricom Foundation will commission over 400 Ndoto Zetu projects in health, education and economic empowerment programmes worth Sh 100 million. The programme is targeting to reach two million beneficiaries.
