Giant telecommunication company, Safaricom has launched Mycounty App in Makueni where 100 students benefited from a Software Design training from engineering communities. Makueni became the first county to benefit from the initiative.

The mobile application will be available for all types of phones.
The app will digitize all county services and also help citizens to talk to their governors directly, thus getting immediate feedback.
“Through this App, the residents will reduce physical visits in different county offices as most of the services can be offered through the app; reduce time wastage, do away with middlemen, enable individuals to interact with the governor direct and offer better feasibility of revenue collection among others,” Ndegwa said.
Speaking during the same event, Makueni County Governor, Mutula Kilonzo Junior challenged youths to be innovative enough. He said the platform will be away of wealth creation since investors will easily explore Makueni tourism sector for the county since there are so many services in the app especially those marketing the county.
“The Mycounty mobile application will serve openness and transparency,” Mutula said.
The launch came after experts from the company partnered with the county government and trained students who recently graduated from Wote technical training institute with diploma in electronics and ICT.
