Kisii County has been a hive of extra-curricular activities with Itierio Boys hosting County Drama Festival competitions as Cardinal Otunga Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term One Games in the area.

According to county’s Quality Assurance and Standards Officer Adenya Mayodi and KSSSA Secretary, Geoffrey Nyantika, this year’s team exhibited high degree of order and discipline.

Nyantika attributed this to commitment by teachers in charge of sports in various schools to instill discipline among players with support from their principals.

“We have witnessed a remarkable discipline and outstanding competitiveness among teams that will represent us as a family at the Regional level next week,” he said.

Nyanchwa Boys were the winners of county basketball after playing a highly contested final with defending rivals Kisii School whom they defeated at 50-46.

Nyanchwa head coach Kefah Mogire said that Kisii was tough but his tingly playing strategies helped his boys to navigate through the game to win.

St. Angela Sengera Girls from Gucha Sub-county burst into song and dance when they walloped Kereri Girls of Kisii Central 66-36 to remain the County Basketball queens for three consecutive years.

Sengera baptized Igorera of Kenyenya Sub-county at 58-O9 to face Kereri who had defeated Sameta Mixed 34-14.
