President William Ruto   has promised to eradicate banditry in the volatile North Rift. Talking yesterday, to an attentive congregation in an inter-Christian faith church  thanks giving service in Kapsabet town , the president not only promised to end  the armed banditry  menace in the arid region but noted the closed schools will reopen within 60 days.

Addressing the nation during the event, the president reiterated that in case the reckless bandits had destroyed the schools, the government will swing in swift action to rebuild and turn them into boarding schools. The president called for a change of life style amongst the nomadic pastoralists who often move from place with their children, searching for pasture and water for their livestock in the arid region.

“Once  built and turned into boarding schools  learning  will resume and our children won’t be subjected  to day school life, often disrupted by pastoralist nomads searching for  pasture and water  with their parents,’’ said the president  who further promised  to build dams in the volatile water scarce  area to make life more palatable  by combating pastoral nomadism .

Besides that, Ruto explained that his predecessor president Uhuru having laid a foundation stone for the long awaited Kapsabet University, he called on the county’s  powers to look for alternative parcel of land to construct  the  eagerly awaited campus .

President Ruto thanked the church congregation for showering him a befitting welcoming.

On the residents request for completion of Kapsabet Stadium in Nandi County, the president assured the residents that his government has set aside money to complete the project.

“In December after completion I will be here,   to open the arena, thus give the students and youth a real time chance to nurture their talent to excel in sports and games,’’ president Ruto said.
