President Ruto has announced that the government will provide Ksh500 million towards the construction of Nyamira University at Kiabonyoru in Itibo ward.

Speaking while addressing residents during the first stop of his 3-day tour in the region, Ruto promised to prioritize education development in his new approach of a broad-based government.

He asked the youth to embrace Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to take advantage of the continuing roll-out of Jitume ICT hubs which will be installed in all wards across the country to help the youth get online jobs.

“The world has become a global village and I urge our youth to embrace computer technology to enable them work from home,” he said.

Ruto thanked the Kuwaiti government for providing Ksh1.4 billion which is being used to build and improve infrastructure in the 68 primary schools in the county.

24 secondary schools have benefitted from the aid including Kiabonyoru Secondary School where the President laid foundation stones for one modern dormitory and three classrooms.

He revealed that the government will construct a second Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Manga sub-county.
