President Ruto announced that the Linda Mama programme will be expanded, allowing women to receive 10 pre-natal and post-natal visits, an increase from the current six.

The Linda Mama programme, a key part of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) aims at providing free maternity services to all expectant mothers in public and selected private healthcare facilities.

Universal Health Coverage is a key pillar of the country’s “Big Four Agenda,” aimed at ensuring that every Kenyan has access to affordable and quality healthcare services without suffering financial hardship.

The initiative was launched in 2018 and focuses on expanding healthcare access, improving service delivery, and reducing out-of-pocket expenses for medical services.
