The Rophine Field Group of Schools has once again embarked on a major Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, aiming to raise over KSh 700,000 to boost pediatric healthcare services at the Msambweni County Referral Hospital in Kwale County.
This marks the school’s second major CSR project, following last year’s successful initiative, during which KSh 500,000 was donated to the same facility to enhance the quality of healthcare services for children.
Speaking during the launch in Diani, the school’s Executive Director, Boniface Owiti, said the program reflects Rophine’s continued commitment to community welfare and child wellbeing.
He said that supporting pediatric healthcare is a way of investing in the future generation.
“Children are the future leaders, and their wellness should be our collective responsibility. By involving our learners in such initiatives, we are nurturing a spirit of compassion, service, and shared responsibility among them,” he said.
Owiti added that the funds will go toward improving medical equipment and child-friendly health facilities, ensuring that children in the region have access to quality care.
The initiative also seeks to instil in students the value of giving back to society, helping them grow into responsible citizens who are conscious of the needs of their communities.
Owiti added that by actively addressing the community’s healthcare needs, the group hopes to inspire other organisations to support similar initiatives that will foster a healthier society and better education for all.
He further noted that Rophine Field Group of Schools recognises that providing quality education goes beyond academics.
Owiti said it involves nurturing students in an environment that promotes holistic well-being, where health, education, and community development work hand in hand.
He said the group of schools’ commitment to sustaining the program extends beyond a one-time donation.
Owiti revealed that the school has plans to explore more partnerships in health, education and other sectors to create long-term benefits for the Kwale community and the country at large.
On his part, the school’s Chief Principal, Bee Thomas, said the CSR program is designed to address various challenges affecting the surrounding communities.

Thomas noted that the initiative is being implemented through a partnership between the county government and parents, reflecting a collective effort to improve public health.
“Promoting the health of young children creates a conducive environment for their growth and strengthens their educational foundation,” he said.
Thomas revealed that Rophine has been running similar CSR programs in Nairobi, where major hospitals such as Kenyatta National Hospital and Mama Lucy Hospital have benefited from the school’s health-focused projects.
He said that through these programs, the school has contributed to improving healthcare access for underprivileged children and families, ensuring that learners remain healthy and ready to achieve their full potential.
“We believe that a healthy child is a successful learner, and through these initiatives, we aim to build a generation that values both health and education,” he said.

Nira also urged other learning institutions to emulate Rophine Field Group of Schools, noting that such community-driven initiatives are the way forward in promoting inclusive growth and sustainable development.
“If more institutions took part in similar projects, our society would be healthier, stronger, and more united,” she added.
