Cherangany Training and Vocational College (TVC) has experienced an extraordinary surge in its student population since opening doors to learners just two years ago.

Thanks to a robust marketing strategy, student numbers have skyrocketed from 47 last year to over 350 currently, resulting in all academic programmes running successfully.

They include Hospitality, Fashion Design and Garment Making, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, Building Technology, Accountancy, Agriculture, and Electrical courses.

Principal Nobert Wafula attributes this to the implementation of the new Competence-Based Education and Training (CBET) curriculum, which aligns with the current job market demands and focuses on enhancing self-employability among students.

“Students are still showing interest, and we anticipate exceeding 400 students by the end of the academic year,” said Wafula.

However, some prospective students have faced admission challenges due to difficulties understanding the new funding model under the Higher Education Fund.
