The Rift Valley region Teachers Service Commission (TSC) director Dr. Samuel Marigat, has showered glowing praise on St Joseph Boys High School chief principal Cosmas Nabungolo, describing him as a transformational leader whose impact in education and sports will be remembered for generations.

Speaking in a function at the Kitale-based school, Dr. Marigat said Nabungolo’s journey from humble beginnings to the helm of one of the country’s top-performing schools is a powerful story of resilience, discipline and vision.

He noted that when the time eventually comes for Nabungolo to exit the stage as chief principal, he will do so as a proud man who has significantly changed the lives of countless children across the nation.

“He has transformed many young lives in this country. His leadership goes beyond academics. He believes in nurturing the whole student.” Marigat said

He also hailed Nabungolo’s impeccable dressing code, saying that image and presentation matter in leadership.

“He dresses smartly and commands respect. Image is important, especially for someone shaping young minds,” he remarked adding that his humility stands out most.

Marigat described humility as the driving force behind Nabungolo’s remarkable success.

“I admire his humility. Despite his achievements, he remains grounded. Humility is greatness,” he said.

Hard work is another defining trait of the seasoned educationist. Dr. Marigat revealed that Nabungolo’s passion for excellence runs so deep that he takes losses personally.

“When he loses a football match, sometimes he even falls sick because he does not believe in losing. But that is what makes him a fighter,” he added.

A football enthusiast, Nabungolo joined St Joseph Boys High School in 2023 as Chief Principal, bringing with him a rich legacy of success.

His journey in school football began at Kapenguria Boys High School, where he won two football titles.

In 2000, he moved to St. Anthony’s Boys High School, serving until 2017 and leading the institution to four national titles and one East Africa championship — an extraordinary achievement that cemented his name in Kenya’s school sports history.

In 2018, he transferred to St. Peter’s Boys High School in Mumias, where his Under-16 team reached the national finals in 2019.

Under Nabungolo’s leadership, St Joseph Boys has strengthened its culture of excellence in both academics and co-curricular activities. He believes the two must go hand in hand.

“When the school is closed, our players remain behind to train. We organize friendly matches to expose them and sharpen their skills,” Nabungolo has previously said, attributing success to hard work, proper planning, motivation and structured training.

His broader vision is to create a model institution that blends academic excellence with talent development.

“We want to nurture talents on a strong academic foundation,” he emphasized.

Through humility, discipline and an unrelenting hunger for success, Cosmas Nabungolo continues to shape not just champions on the field, but responsible citizens ready to excel in life.
