Rift Valley Primary Schools Sports Association (RVPSSA) competition has kicked off with 14 Counties confirming participation in the contest held in Baringo County.
Speaking during the flagging off of the event ceremony at Kabarnet Showground, the Rift Valley Region Kenya Primary School Heads Teachers Association (KEPSHA) Chairman Dr Joseph Patrick Kitur lauded counties for turning up in numbers for the auspicious occasion to witness talent from the region.
Kitur hailed significant role of the Ministry of Education (MoE) and participating counties and education stakeholders for their active role of supporting the talents.
He said that the association was fully committed to ensure talents are nurtured and encouraged the teams to instill discipline and hard work during the competition.
At the same time, the Rift Valley Region Director of Education Milton Nzioka echoed the region’s chair on talent development of pupils who showed up for the event challenging them to take the sports seriously.

Nzioka affirmed that Rift Valley was poised to produce top notch talents in both primary and Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) who will represent the region in national level competition to be held next month in Kakamega County.
‘‘We are confident that you will churn the best cohort who will outshine peers to represent the country abroad .Your sheer determination and self-confidence is what will determine the future of the talent you will display today,” he said.
Baringo County Executive Committee Member (CECM) in charge of sports, culture and sports Maurine Limashep on her end challenged the participating counties to produce strong team from the region to represent at the nationals.
