RIAT students protest death of colleague in suspected robbery attack

Students at Ramogi Institute of Advanced Technology (RIAT) in Kisumu County are protesting the death of their colleague who was fatally attacked by suspected robbers.

College Principal Tom Mulati confirmed the sad incident and revealed that the motive of the attack is yet to be established.

Kisumu County Police Commander Alphonse Kimathi confirmed the sad incident and added that the student whose identity is yet to be revealed died at a local hospital while undergoing treatment.

The gang allegedly ambushed seven students at the gates of the learning institution before descending on them with crude weapons.

Kimathi said they have launched a manhunt for the thugs, further alluding that the unfortunate incident might be linked to the recently held student elections.

He urged the students to maintain peace and assured them that patrols will be deployed to the institution to enhance security.
