The Teachers Service Commission has appointed Rev. Edith Koech to be the new Chief Principal of The Kenya High School, succeeding Virginia Wahome, who has officially handed over the mantle of leadership after serving since January 2023.

The change of guard was marked on August 19, 2025, during a ceremony attended by representatives of the Board of Management and the Parents Association. Wahome now takes up a new assignment as the Principal of Naivasha Girls High School.

Rev. Koech, an ordained minister of the Anglican Church of Kenya, joins the prestigious institution from Ossen Girls High School in Baringo County, where she earned a reputation as a transformative leader. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master’s in Guidance and Counselling.

Her career spans over two decades at Kapsabet High School, where she rose to Head of Department for Languages, earning national recognition as one of Kenya’s best Kiswahili teachers. She has also led Kapkolei Girls, Metkei Girls, and Ossen Girls, under whose stewardship Ossen emerged as a regional academic giant.
