Chepokachim Comprehensive School is situated at the foot of Ktoyo and Rmai Hills in Sook zone Endow ward, on the shores of River Turkwel, in West Pokot Sub-County.
The school runs from ECDE to Grade 9 and has a population of about 200 learners.
The most challenging and enjoyable aspect is that most learners use boats to travel to and from school.
According to the school’s headteacher, Emmanuel Meru Longolenyang, learners normally arrive in time for the day’s lessons and board the boat back home in the evening after classes.
The head teacher confirmed that most learners who use boats are from Konoswo village.
Longolenyang praised World Vision for constructing four classrooms and providing a 5,000-litre water tank.
He also appreciated the NG-CDF for constructing four other classrooms at the school. Further, the head teacher appreciates the work of area MCA Victor Siywat in facilitating the construction of the ECDE classroom at the school.
In addition, the head teacher also thanks the National Government administration, through the area chief, Isaiah Ronyet, for encouraging both boys and girls to go to school and be educated.
The chief also advises girls to avoid early marriages and to work hard at school.
The learners of Chepokachim Comprehensive, thirsty for knowledge, skills, and attitude, will continue using the boat to and from school as their means of transport.
