Students in secondary and tertiary institutions from Lurambi Constituency in Kakamega County who applied for the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) bursaries can sigh in relief after the area Member of Parliament Hon. Titus Khamala launched the bursary disbursement this week.

The legislator, while speaking at Shikoti Mixed Secondary School, said that his office has allocated Ksh 30 million for the course with an intention of making sure that no student within the constituency fails to go to school due to lack of school fees.

“The education bursary budget for this year is Ksh 30 million. We hope to capture more deserving students and perhaps to also raise the minimum amount a student can get as school fees relief from our kitty.

“Currently we have given Ksh 3,000 to all the day scholars and Ksh 5,000 for the boarders,” the MP announced.

During the event, Khamala asked school heads in his constituency not to hesitate to report cases where some unscrupulous persons purporting to be working for his constituency office go about soliciting bribes, saying such characters should not be tolerated.

“Bishop Titus Khamala does not send anybody in your schools or to the contractors to solicit for money for any development project. If someone comes to you and asks for kicks back in my name, report that case to the nearest police station because such a person is a thief and he deserves to be jailed.” The MP asserted.
