After months of waiting, Friends Malava Girls’ High School has finally received Ksh700,000 from the Malava NG-CDF to revive its old school bus.
Speaking while handing over the cheque to school Board Chairman Francis Murambi, NG-CDF Committee Manager Collins Obuya said that the school had requested the Committee to secure funds to repair the bus in order to facilitate the movement of students during school activities including games and exchange programmes.
“We are here to present this cheque to the school to see that their bus is up and serving the school and community at large. We will continue to support education as it is our first priority. When our MP Malulu Injendi heard that the bus had stalled for quite some time, he saw it fit to come on board and allocate funds for repairs,” he said.
He added: “We are aware that the school has put in place educational programmes to realize improved results in the coming KCSE exams and we are optimistic that our support will have a positive impact and boost student morale.”
Chairman Murambi lauded the continuous support the NG-CDF has offered the school and added that the revival of the school bus was a positive move for the girls.
“As a school, we don’t take it for granted the efforts the NG-CDF has put in place to ensure that our bus is up and running. I know it will reignite our girls spirits. We are also working round the clock to revitalize our academic prowess and so far we have proved that it is possible considering our ranking in the latest sub-county mock exams where we topped in the girls’ schools category and attained position3 overall, behind Malava Boys and St. Anthony Kakoyi respectively,” he said.
Murambi called on school BoMs to understand their rules of engagement in their institutions and be in tandem with the Basic Education Act guidelines to avoid clashing with their Principals.
