Reinstate suspended teachers, KNUT demands

By John Majau

Teachers in Tharaka-Nithi County have cried foul following the suspension of five teachers for alleged examination irregularities and called on the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to immediately reinstate them.
Led by the Kenya National Union of Teachers branch Executive Secretary Njeru Mutani, they asked the TSC to reinstate the five teachers who were interdicted saying they did not commit any examination anomalies.
Speaking to the education stakeholders in Chuka town, Mutani said that the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has already exonerated them from any blame or wrong doing after it released the results of all the candidates of the two schools alleged to have been involved in exam cheating.
“The five teachers could not have participated in exam malpractices since all the candidates in their respective centres got their results. We are asking the TSC to reinstate the five teachers who were interdicted because they did not commit any examination irregularities failure to which we will take drastic action against their employer,” said the KNUT official.
