Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has re-organized its reporting structure that will see Regional and County Directors reporting directly to the Commission’s Secretary and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for their functional duties effective January 1, 2022.

In a memo dated November 30, 2021 and signed by the Commission’s CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia and addressed to all Secretariat staff, the Commission maintains that the re-organization is meant to address various gaps that have been identified in the previous reporting structure.

“In recent past, I have received complaints from the field staff touching on multile reporting structures, ineffective communication channels and impractical deadlines issued from the head officewhile calling for reports. This has adeversely affected service delivery to our customers and caused general inefficiency,” said Dr. Macharia in the memo.

She directs that: “To this end, eeffective 1st January, 2022, the Regional and the County Directors will functionally report to the office of the Commission Secretary/Chief Executive and administratively to their respective supervisors.”

Dr. Macharia directs further that instructions to the field officers on key assisgnements including generation of various reports will be channeled through her office so as to accord the field staff adequate time to prepare and submit the necessary information to the head office.

In 2018, Dr. Macharia split the Teacher Management Directorate into three major divisions headed by Directors which are Staffing Division currently headed by Ritah Wahome; Quality Assurance and Standards, and Teacher Registration Division headed by Dr. Reuben Nthamburi ; and Field Services Division headed by Mary Rotich.

The Regional and County Directors reported to Director Field Services or to any Director under Teacher management directorate depending on the assigned duty.
