A sheer realignment is taking shape as various candidates stretch their muscles for a rare strength of campaigns which has gained momentum in the ongoing vote hunt in Nandi East/Tindiret Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT)branch.
Education news has established that the entry of young tutors to the union politics has made the branch attract more attention compared to the other Knut branches in Nandi County.
According to the insiders, the much coveted office of the branch Executive secretary seem to be reserved for the incumbent Boniface Tenai who happens also to be first National trustee representing Rift valley region.
As to date, no other contestant has shown interest of challenging the vocal trade unionist in the branch. A report also indicates that a number of teachers reached affirmed that Tenai remains the darling of teachers as far as championing for teachers rights is concerned.
However, the Assistant Executive secretary post has attracted the incumbent, Andrew Ketter and Simon Kurgat Sego, the duo youth, are expected to convince teachers on how they can fit into Tenai’s shoes should he be elevated to the National office in the upcoming branch and National elections.

It is also reported that the branch chairperson position is set to be of a great interest, following the decision of the incumbent, James Tallam to vie for the position of representative of teachers living with Disabilities (Pwd). Tallam’s decision caught many teachers unaware triggering heightened speculations on who can fit into his ability to stabilize the union’s activities across the branch.
Education News has also established that the outgoing vice chair Simon Lagat will battle it out with the former branch assistant Executive secretary Wilson Kemboi.
Vice chair position has attracted the youthful out going Nandi hill/Chebarus BEC Samwel Rotich who is expected to square out with Wilson Munai from Tinderet. Observers are of the opinion that Rotich has the stamina and Zeal owing to his performance as an outgoing BEC.
The treasure’s docket will be a battle between the outgoing treasurer David Misoi and a new entrant Baruk Lagat. The two contestants are seen to have strong backing from their home grounds. To the time of going to press, women representative seat seem vacant following reports that the incumbent, Tecla Bittok had been promoted to a curriculum support officer during the just released TSC promotions.
