Rarieda KMTC ready for inaugural September intake

Preparations and last touches are being carried out at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), Rarieda Campus in Siaya County ahead of the September 2022 intake.

Speaking during the inspection of ongoing works at the campus, Fredick Wamwaki who led a delegation from the national office of the KMTC board to review projects in Western Kenya noted that they were satisfied with the progress made by the area National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) in ensuring proper infrastructure is in place ahead of the admissions.

“We want to thank the community who have really worked hard through the MP Hon. Otiende Amollo. The CDF team and the Project Management Committee. We must express our satisfaction at the level of preparedness that this college has put in place and we hope that sooner we will begin to rollout courses,” stated Wamwaki.

The KMTC Board Member revealed that what remained were few finishing touches like electricity, water supply and finishing of a few classrooms.

“We as KMTC are ready like yesterday, as soon as they are ready we can have students in September 2022 intake,” remarked Wamwaki.

He noted that that the new campus will go along way in ensuring the realization of universal health care including opening the area to socio- economic growth.

Deputy Director in charge of Academics at KMTC Mrs. Nyawira Mwangi noted that it is the aspirations of the institute to begin the courses and training for better health of the community.

“In our colleges, the mission is to train for better health so that the community can enjoy better health. The impact is to improve the health of the people together with other socio- economic aspects attached to the training institution,” said Nyawira.

Rarieda NG-CDF Chairman Dr. Paul  Saoke on his part assured that all works will be completed ahead of the September 2022 intake.

He disclosed that all the hostels, administration blocks and the classes were on their final touches.

“We must thank the board for trusting in us to the far we have reached.  Overall, we are sure that by the end of May everything would be ready for handover to the KMTC board” assured Dr. Saoke.
