Pupil commits suicide at his parents home

Police in Embu County have launched investigations into an incident where a 14-year pupil commited suicide at his parents’ home in Kigumo village, in Embu North Sub-county.

The boy, Dickson Mwenda, who was a KCPE candidate at Kiriari Primary School was this morning sent home to collect school fee balance before taking his own life.

While confirming the incident, area chief, Nelson Muturi said the boy arrived home from school and found her mother who was attending to his other siblings.

They made a brief chat with her mother informing her that he had been sent to collect the fee balance before entering the house.

Her mother then prepared to take him back to school.

After preparations, she called Mwenda to come out from his room so that she could escort him to school but he was not responding.

She decided to enter the room only to find his body dangling from the roof.

It is here that the mother screamed in disbelief of what she had seen.

Reverend Robert Nyaga who responded to the scream described the boy as obedient saying it was an unfortunate incident.

“This boy was very obedient, we lack words to express how saddened we are,” he said.

His body was moved to Embu Level Five Hospital mortuary as investigations commence.
